Traditionally Palo Santo has been used as a natural incense in both spiritual ceremonies, rituals and homeopathic medicine.
The name translates to ‘sacred’ or ‘holy’ wood and is still used by shamans in South America to this day. The wood is lit, and the burning ember is carried around leaving a trail of smoke that cleanses the energetic space, and provides a ward against malicious spirits.
Our sustainably sourced Palo Santo comes from naturally fallen Bursera Graveolens trees that have been left on the ground for at least 5 years before harvesting. This process allows for the oils in the tree to develop and mature, resulting in the potent and characteristic limonene scent that makes Palo Santo the energetic heavyweight that it is.
We use it to cleanse the space in the shop, cleansing after sessions in the studio and cleansing our crystal collections.
